Getting prepared for the IDOCDE Symposium

Photo 6th IDOCDE Symposium 27th to 29th of July 2018

Each year ImPulsTanz offers the possibility for artists and researchers to engage in a theoretical exchange: The IDOCDE Symposium is committed to sharing practice(s) of dance and invites artists to play with different ways to engage with artistic and reflective documentation within their practices. Prior to the Symposium, all the members of the IDOCDE team are invited to participate in MIND THE DANCE Labs across Europe. Hosted by REFLEX Europe2, they are an opportunity to discuss tools for documenting dance and to learn more about their digital publication MINDTHEDANCE.com.

MIND THE DANCE Lab - Vienna

I will be participating at the MTD Lab in Vienna from 21st to 22nd of July 2018. In this two-day lab, artists Sabina Holzer and Anouk Llaurens introduce artistic ways to reflective teaching and documentation with specific attention to poetry, writing, moving and drawing. The labs are open to anyone inspired by movement and reflection through documentation.

Residency before the symposium

After the MTD Labs, the co-speakers and mentors of the IDOCDE will meet in Vienna and start their one-week residency. During this period, I will be meeting with my mentor Ulla Mäki and my two fellow co-speakers Gwen Rakotowa and Marianna Panourgia. Together we will research, further discuss and prepare our presentation of our subject:

“What do we teach beyond movement techniques? Reflecting
contemporary dance pedagogy in relationship to the triptych
of body, mind and soul”

We will be presenting our findings at the end of the week Sunday 29th of July 2018 at 10:15-11:45 STUDIO 1. Adress: ARSENAL / Burgtheater-Probebuehne & ART-FOR-ART Werkstätten Objekt 19, 1030 Vienna.

We are there - hope you are here too! All REFLEX Europe events at the symposium are
free for all.
